FIANARANTSOA

Fianarantsoa, which means “the place where good is learnt” in Malagasy, is the birthplace of Malagasy culture and a gateway to the south. The town boasts numerous churches and was once the royal capital of the Betsileo. Rice, coffee and wine production form the town’s main activities.
